Orlando Pirates Dominate PSL Awards After Trophy Laden Season
Orlando Pirates capped off a remarkable 2025/26 campaign by dominating the Premier Soccer League Awards, with the club collecting almost every major individual accolade after lifting the Betway Premiership, MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies.
Leading the celebrations was Relebohile Mofokeng, who walked away with three of the evening’s biggest honours following another outstanding season in black and white.
Mofokeng Takes Centre Stage
The 21 year old was named PSL Footballer of the Season, Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season and Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season, adding further recognition to a campaign that has already earned him a move to Belgian side Royale Union Saint Gilloise.
Mofokeng saw off competition from Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena to claim the league’s highest individual honour.
Pirates Shine Across The Board
Pirates’ dominance extended well beyond Mofokeng’s success.
Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was named Coach of the Season, while Sipho Chaine claimed the Goalkeeper of the Season award.
Lebone Seema was recognised as Defender of the Season, Oswin Appollis collected the Midfielder of the Season accolade and Camren Dansin won Goal of the Season for his strike against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers also claimed the MTN8 Last Man Standing award through Tshepang Moremi, while Mbekezeli Mbokazi was named Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament.
Golden Boot And Other Winners
The only major Betway Premiership award to evade Pirates was the Golden Boot, which went to Golden Arrows striker Sede Junior Dion after finishing the league campaign with 14 goals.
Elsewhere, Darren Keet of Durban City was named Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, while TS Galaxy’s Seluleko Mahlambi received the Most Promising Player of the Tournament award.
Cape Town City’s Gabriel Amato was recognised as the Motsepe Foundation Championship Young Player of the Season, with teammate Mickey van der Hart taking the Goalkeeper of the Season award. Bennet Mokoena of Mamelodi Sundowns collected the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season honour.
Emotional Tribute To Jayden Adams
One of the evening’s most emotional moments came when the late Jayden Adams was posthumously honoured with the PSL Chairman’s Award.
The Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, who recently helped South Africa reach the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup before his passing, was recognised by PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza in a moving tribute.
