Manchester United Handed Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Clash Against Tottenham
Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to be available for Michael Carrick’s side when they face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, despite concerns over their fitness ahead of the international break.
Both players were forced off with knocks before the break and subsequently withdrew from the England squad for their Nations League fixtures.
Although Carrick has remained tight-lipped about their condition, journalist Laurie Whitwell has suggested that the pair are unlikely to miss the upcoming Premier League fixture.
Speaking on the Talk of the Devils podcast, Whitwell indicated that the decisions surrounding Rashford and Mainoo’s international withdrawals were made with Manchester United’s interests in mind.
He also expressed confidence that neither player was a major doubt for the Tottenham encounter.
Rashford and Mainoo have become regular starters for United this season after coming off the bench in the opening fixture against Hull City. Both have featured in the starting line-up for every Premier League match since.
Manchester United Face Further Injury Concerns
While Rashford and Mainoo are expected to be available, United continue to monitor several other players dealing with injury concerns.
Benjamin Sesko missed the club’s most recent draw against Fulham after aggravating a shin injury that also brought his 2025/26 campaign to an early end.
Patrick Dorgu was another concern after leaving Denmark’s international camp following a non-contact incident.
The 21-year-old reportedly experienced discomfort in his hamstring, raising concerns about a recurring issue.
Noussair Mazraoui also sustained an injury while representing Morocco. The defender was involved in a collision before being forced off in the 68th minute and subsequently missed the national team’s final fixture of the international break.
United Await Updates On Long-Term Absentees
United are also waiting for further clarity on the availability of longer-term absentees Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt.
It remains uncertain whether either player will be fit enough to feature against Tottenham, even in a limited capacity.
With several players facing fitness assessments, Carrick will be hoping to have as many first-team options available as possible for Saturday’s Premier League encounter.
