Kane stays at Bayern with a bigger prize in his sights
MUNICH — Harry Kane has extended his Bayern Munich contract until June 2029, committing his future to the German champions with Champions League success firmly in his ambitions. The England captain’s decision follows his Ballon d’Or victory and gives Bayern continuity around a striker who has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances.
The agreement extends Kane’s previous deal by two years. Now 33, he has become central to Bayern’s attack since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, helping the club win two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Supercups.
“I feel right at home at FC Bayern,” Kane said in the club’s announcement. He pointed to his family’s happiness in Munich, his relationship with supporters and his confidence in manager Vincent Kompany as reasons for staying.
His contribution has extended beyond finishing chances. According to the Bundesliga, Kane has registered 10 goals and eight assists in 14 appearances across all competitions this season, having scored his 100th Bundesliga goal against Union Berlin in September. That combination of scoring and creating remains a major asset for Bayern’s attack.
Bayern sporting board member Max Eberl said the extension provided certainty for squad planning and allowed the club to continue building around Kane. The striker has finished as Bundesliga top scorer in each of his three completed seasons in Germany and won the European Golden Shoe in 2023/24 and 2025/26.
The new agreement follows an individual milestone that made Kane the first English Ballon d’Or winner since Michael Owen in 2001. His focus, however, remains on adding team honours, telling reporters: “I know we will be challenging for Champions League titles.”
