Jub Jub’s legal team told the court that he has been booked off sick since Thursday, August 20.

The court, however, ordered that the warrant should not be activated until September 7, when the matter is scheduled to return to court.

Jub Jub is facing charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing an object in a manner likely to cause another person to believe it was a firearm.

The charges stem from an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on June 14.

According to police, the incident began after Jub Jub allegedly accused the driver of being romantically involved with his girlfriend, who had been dropped off at a residence in the area.

The confrontation allegedly escalated when Jub Jub forced the driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. He is further accused of discharging a firearm in the driver’s direction.

The driver reportedly managed to escape unharmed before driving to a nearby police station to report the incident.

Following his arrest, Jub Jub approached the Johannesburg High Court on an urgent basis, challenging the delay in his appearance before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court and seeking bail.

The High Court granted the application on June 16 and ordered his release on R5,000 bail pending his first appearance.

The Uyajola 9/9 presenter has previously faced serious legal proceedings. In 2012, he was convicted in connection with a crash that claimed the lives of four schoolchildren.

More recently, in 2024, charges of rape, attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against him were withdrawn.
