A former African National Congress (ANC) employee and three co-accused arrested in connection with a Soweto cash in transit heist will be back in the Roodepoort Magistrates court on Tuesday morning.
Errol Velile Present and co-accused Itumeleng Manama, Bheki Biyela and Zakhele Zondi were released on R4000 bail each at their previous court appearance.
The heist took place at Dobsonville in July this year.
The four face charges of armed robbery and possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.
When granting them bail, Magistrate John Baloyi said the state did not present tangible proof and that there’s no direct evidence linking any of the accused to the scene of a crime.
Baloyi also said that a DNA blood sample found at the scene could not be linked to the accused.
He described the state’s case as weak.
Three of the men have previous convictions of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and theft.
However, the National Prosecuting Authority said this was not the end of the case as investigations are on-going.
