Lagos, Nigeria – The Police in Lagos State have concluded arrangements to transfer the case involving Afro hip-hop artiste, David Davido Adeleke, over the death of his friends: Tagbo, DJ Olu and Chime, to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, for further investigations.

Meanwhile, Davido, yesterday, released a statement, stating that late Tagbo never entered his car. He also released CCTV footages of the night’s events. This is as facts emerged that the music star was not detained after his interrogation by the Police.

Police sources revealed that he was allowed to go home after the interrogation, which lasted for some hours. However, other suspects in the case were said to still be in Police custody, pending the completion of the process of transfer and other requirements that will aid detectives in their investigations. It was also learned that Davido was advised to make himself available any time his attention was needed, a request he freely consented to.

“The interim autopsy report stated that the victim died of asphyxia, which means suffocation,” said Edgal, adding that the singer was questioned again on Wednesday.

Two other members of the singer’s entourage died a few days after Umeike. Their bodies were discovered on October 7 in a BMW parked in a private residence in the ultra-chic Lagos area Banana Island.

Local media initially reported the deaths were from overdoses, but police said they were waiting for autopsy results.

In a video published on his Instagram account on Wednesday, Davido denounced “lies everywhere” after internet rumours about the deaths.

“Due to respect for Tagbo and his family, I haven’t spoken about the issue since (his death). Soon, a statement and footage will be released. Enough is enough,” Davido said.

The sources further revealed that detectives are making frantic efforts to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of two other friends of the music star, Olugbenga Abiodun (DJ Olu), son of oil magnate and Chime Amechina, inside a white-coloured BMW car with number plates KJA 631 AY at an underground garage in Banana Island, Ocean Parade, Ikoyi. According to sources, “we are also looking into the veracity of strange findings inside the car where the two died. “We have made contacts with the necessary departments and as soon as they send their reports to us, we will then be in a position to comment freely on the issue. “I assure you that we will not relent in prosecuting anybody involved in the case whether highly or lowly placed.”
