United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader, Bantu Holomisa, says counting process for special votes should be done separately following a number of alleged irregularities by Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) agents in the past two days.

Holomisa was amongst the first people to cast their vote at the Arcadia Primary school in Pretoria on Wednesday morning.

Special votes started on Monday with over 700 000 people eligible to vote. Holomisa says the process for special voting has been concerning.

“There are issues which make us uncomfortable, especially surrounding the scandal in Limpopo. What I have suggested to our leaders is that the counting for special votes should be separated and in doing so, they must ask the IEC as to how were the ballot papers distributed to each VD station so that we can collate those with those ones we saw being put in separate card boxes at night yesterday,” says Holomisa
