Polokwane, Limpopo — Limpopo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly known as Shebeshxt, made a brief appearance in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court, where he is facing charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and possession of an unlicensed firearm. The case arises from an incident reported in October.
According to information contained in the charge sheet, the complainant and a friend were driving along Witklip Street in Ladanna, Polokwane, when they spotted Chauke and greeted him as fans. Instead of engaging with them, Chauke allegedly reacted aggressively and then fired a shot in their direction.
The bullet struck the complainant in the jaw, causing serious injury, and shattered the window of a nearby Nissan vehicle belonging to a witness. The injured man was taken to Polokwane Provincial Hospital for emergency treatment.
Police launched an investigation soon after the shooting, which led to Chauke’s arrest on 12 November. He remains in custody as the legal process continues.
The National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed that Chauke is also facing a separate set of criminal charges unrelated to the October incident.
These include several counts of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and malicious damage to property.
That matter is scheduled to be heard in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court from 17 to 19 February 2026. He is currently out on R5 000 bail in relation to that case.
