More than 300 members of Nehawu have embarked on protest action at the Oshoek Border Post to call on the Swazi Government to unban political parties and release political prisoners.
One of the political prisoners is South African Amos Mbedzi, who is serving 25 years for murder, attempted murder and sedition.
This was after he was found guilty of planning to plant a bomb at a bridge leading to one of King Mswati’s palaces in 2008.
The bomb went off prematurely, killing two of his friends.
Cosatu’s Secretary in Mpumalanga, Thabo Mokoena says they are not going to rest until their demands are met.
“We are saying it can’t be correct that in the modern society you still have people who are arrested for fighting for the right of ordinary human beings to be liberated and be treated as ordinary human beings. We therefore as Cosatu and Nehawu saying comrade Mbedzi should be released with immediate effect.”
