The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) says Winnie Madikizela-Mandela will be remembered for championing the rights of women across the board.
The ANC’s alliance partner says the passing of the Mother of the Nation is a major loss to South Africa.
Madikizela-Mandela died on Monday at the age of 81.
She had been ill since the beginning of the year.
Cosatu’s General Secretary Bheki Ntshalitshali says, “I think people should appreciate especially in relation to the women struggle that women are just as capable as men in terms of leadership. So when the new generation reads about her commitment and challenges, they can see that here is one of the finest women; one of the finest human beings.”
