Fans pay tribute to Frank Lampard after awful season
Chelsea fans paid tribute to Lampard ahead of the team’s final game of the season at Stamford Bridge against Newcastle. It’s been a disastrous campaign for the Blues, who turned to Lampard as interim boss after sacking Graham Potter.
Frank ampard has struggled at the helm, managing just one win since taking over in April. However, fans have shown their undying support for Lampard, unfurling a banner reading ‘Frank Lampard’s Blue and White Army’ ahead of kick-off against Newcastle.
It’s ironic that it comes at the tail end of a most horrendous season, for both Chelsea as a Premier League club and for him personally as a manager, but despite all that he remains one of our greatest Legends, and we should always acknowledge our legends.
In January 2021, when he left as a manager, football was played behind closed doors due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. His final game had no fans in attendance, his sacking played to the echoes of empty stands and a few banners.
Despite it all, Lampard finally got to say a proper goodbye.
