David Moyes Backs Erik ten Hag Amid Manchester United Struggles
Amid mounting pressure, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has received support from David Moyes, who previously managed the Premier League club.
With United’s poor league performance, speculation about Ten Hag’s future has intensified.
On Tuesday, key United officials, including Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer, gathered at the club’s London headquarters, reportedly to discuss Ten Hag’s position.
However, at a Legends of Football event on Monday, Moyes told BBC that Ten Hag has managed the job’s pressures admirably.
“I think he’s doing a fantastic job. He’s shown remarkable resilience in his current situation and deserves credit for his conduct,” Moyes said.
Moyes added, “As far as I know, he hasn’t avoided any questions or media interviews, which is commendable. But it’s a role that comes with immense pressure and scrutiny. I have to say, I think he’s doing a fantastic job.”
Moyes himself was sacked by United after just eight months in 2014, following Sir Alex Ferguson’s sudden retirement.
Under Moyes, United’s performance declined dismally, with the club finishing seventh in the league after winning it the previous season.
