DTIC Governance Under Scrutiny as Minister Pledges Full Investigation
Pretoria — Parks Tau has committed to investigating governance concerns raised within entities reporting to the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
The Minister said allegations relating to governance and oversight will be thoroughly examined to ensure accountability and adherence to regulatory standards. He emphasised that maintaining strong governance frameworks within public institutions remains critical to safeguarding public funds and sustaining investor confidence.
Tau indicated that appropriate processes will be followed to assess the nature and scope of the concerns, including internal reviews and, where necessary, independent investigations. He reaffirmed government’s stance that transparency and ethical leadership are non-negotiable principles in the administration of state-linked entities.
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition plays a central role in industrial development, trade facilitation and economic transformation initiatives. Governance stability within its structures is therefore considered essential to ensuring policy continuity and programme effectiveness.
The Minister assured stakeholders that corrective measures will be implemented should any wrongdoing or weaknesses be identified during the investigation process.
