On Thursday, scores of church members ululated and cheered outside the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court after Pastor Paseka Mboro, the founder of the Incredible Happenings church, was given R3,000 bail.
Clement Camillot Baloyi, the church man’s bodyguard and co-accused, was released on warning and under strict conditions.
Mboro was arrested in August after reportedly going to Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong and threatening teachers with pistols and pangas before forcing his two grandkids to leave the school.
He was apprehended together with his son, Vincent Revival Motsoeneng, and his bodyguard.
They were charged with multiple charges, including kidnapping, possessing an unauthorised handgun, and assault.
The pastor’s church was set on fire in protest following his incarceration. However, the congregation, who had come to support him celebrated in a spectacular way on Thursday.
His congregation was ululating in celebration of their pastor’s and bodyguard’s release outside the courtyard. The case returns in court again next month.
