The City of Cape Town has announced that scheduled maintenance work will lead to temporary water outages in several areas this week, with most interruptions expected to last between six and nine hours.

Maintenance Work on 25 November

Parts of Wynberg, Boston in Bellville, and the Chris Hani Informal Settlement in Khayelitsha will be affected on Tuesday, 25 November.

In Wynberg, water will be unavailable from 8:00 to 17:00 while teams connect a newly installed pipeline along Lionel Road to the existing network.

Residents in Boston will experience an outage between 9:00 and 15:00 as similar connection work is carried out.

In the Chris Hani Informal Settlement, the supply will be switched off from 8:00 to 17:00 to allow the installation of a new pipeline linked to the broader system in Makhaza.

Zero Pressure Testing Later in the Week

Additional disruptions are expected later in the week as the City conducts routine zero-pressure tests and conditional assessments on parts of the water supply network.

Montclair in Somerset West will be affected on Wednesday, 26 November, from 9:00 to 17:00.

On Thursday, 27 November, Brackenfell, Brackenfell South and Protea Hoogte will undergo testing between 10:00 and 16:00.

City Urges Residents to Prepare

The City has encouraged affected households and businesses to make the necessary preparations, including storing water in advance and keeping taps closed during the outage to prevent spills when the supply is restored.
