Eskom has announced a planned electricity outage that will affect parts of Midrand in Gauteng on Thursday, 16 April. The interruption is expected to last for nine hours, from 9:00 to 18:00, as maintenance work is carried out on the distribution network.
The areas impacted include Cosmo City Extensions 3, 7 and 9, as well as Zandspruit. The utility said the outage is necessary to address specific issues within the network and improve overall electricity supply reliability.
Eskom explained that scheduled maintenance plays a key role in preventing unexpected power failures by allowing technicians to identify and fix potential problems early.
Residents have been advised to treat all electrical appliances as live during the outage for safety reasons. Eskom also noted that unforeseen circumstances could result in changes to the planned schedule.
The utility apologised for the inconvenience and expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and cooperation during the maintenance process.
