Woolworths Shampoo Recalled After Bacteria Found In Limited Batch
The National Consumer Commission has warned consumers about the recall of a limited batch of Woolworths shampoo after the product tested positive for a bacterium that can contaminate water-based cosmetics.
The affected product is the 250ml w.beauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo.
According to Woolworths, testing identified a rod-shaped bacterium in the affected batch. While the bacteria generally poses a low risk, it can cause rare opportunistic infections in people with weakened immune systems.
Check Your Shampoo
National Consumer Commission spokesperson Phetho Ndaba said the affected shampoo has been sold since July last year in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.
Consumers are urged to check the product identifier before using the shampoo.
The affected product has the following KU number:

Consumers who have the affected product are advised to return it as part of the recall.
