The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced that grant payment exceptions for all categories will be processed on Tuesday, 7 July. This separate payment date applies to beneficiaries whose payouts fall outside the standard schedules for older persons, disability, and child support grants.
According to SASSA’s official payment notice, individuals whose grants are currently under review will also be included in this exception payment cycle, rather than being paid on their usual scheduled dates linked to their grant type.
Grant reviews form part of SASSA’s ongoing verification process, which is used to confirm that beneficiaries remain eligible for continued social assistance. While these reviews can occasionally result in delayed payments, SASSA has assured that qualifying beneficiaries will still receive their funds once the verification process has been completed.
The agency has encouraged beneficiaries experiencing delays to regularly check their payment status through official SASSA digital platforms, rather than assuming that non-payment indicates ineligibility or cancellation.
SASSA has further advised those flagged for review to ensure that their personal details and supporting documentation are updated to avoid additional delays in processing. Beneficiaries are also encouraged to use the agency’s self-service systems, including the e-Life Certification platform, to complete verification processes remotely.
The agency reiterated that beneficiaries who are able to do so should make use of the online self-service portal to complete e-Life Certification from home.
At the same time, SASSA has cautioned beneficiaries to be vigilant against scams during this period, urging the public to verify any communication directly with the agency. It continues to emphasise its commitment to ensuring that social grants are paid accurately, to the correct beneficiaries, and at the appropriate time and place.
