Postbank has announced that nearly 1.4 million South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries have successfully switched from the old gold cards to the new black cards.
The transition follows the deactivation of the gold SASSA cards, which stopped functioning from midnight last Thursday.
With a total of approximately 2.8 million beneficiaries, Postbank continues to assist those who have yet to make the change.
Beneficiaries who still need to replace their cards can do so at any designated Postbank card replacement site.
In addition, selected retail stores including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, and Boxer are also facilitating the card swap.
Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako reassured the public that those who have not yet collected their new cards will still receive their social grant payments during the next payment cycle.
“All the beneficiaries that have not collected their cards will be paid their grants with just their IDs at any Post Office branch across the country,” Diako confirmed.
