Two foreign nationals are due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday following a major drug bust in which police confiscated narcotics worth an estimated R54.3 million.

The seizure followed an intelligence-led operation in Goodwood, conducted by members of Operation Restore. Acting on a tip-off, officers raided a residence on Molteno Street and began searching the premises.

Inside one of the rooms, they found 6kg of heroin stashed in a cupboard. A 32-year-old Tanzanian national occupying the room was arrested and charged with dealing in heroin, with the drugs estimated to be worth nearly R1 million on the street.

Further investigation led officers to another bedroom where 100 grams of heroin were uncovered. A 28-year-old Burundian national was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.

While processing both suspects, police received additional intelligence suggesting more drugs were hidden on the property. This led to an extended search, during which officers discovered 145kg of tik and 16kg of heroin concealed in the roof. These substances alone are valued at around R53.3 million.

The combined haul has been valued at R54.3 million, marking one of the most significant drug seizures in the province this year.
