Gauteng police sergeant Fannie Nkosi has been reprimanded at the Madlanga Commission for repeatedly refusing to answer questions during his testimony.
Nkosi has spent six days on the witness stand, during which he has frequently declined to comment on key matters or claimed he could not recall important details.
His conduct drew criticism from the commission, which expects witnesses to provide clear and cooperative testimony.
On Friday, Nkosi was questioned about a confidential tender document he allegedly shared with a taxi boss known as Mampane.
He maintained that the document was no longer confidential at the time it was sent, arguing that the tender had already been cancelled.
However, evidence presented before the commission suggests otherwise, indicating that the tender was only cancelled months after the document was shared.
Co-commissioner Sesi Baloyi expressed concern over Nkosi’s conduct, describing his responses as obstructive and unhelpful to the inquiry.
She emphasised that witnesses have an obligation to assist the commission and provide satisfactory answers, particularly when presented with evidence they do not dispute.
The inquiry continues as the commission probes allegations of corruption and irregularities linked to tender processes.
