Police in the Western Cape have launched an investigation into a burglary at the home of alleged Sexy Boys gang leader Jerome Booysen.
The incident occurred shortly after 11am on Tuesday at a property in Glenhaven, Bellville South. At the time, a domestic worker was alone on the premises when she was ambushed by unknown suspects and tied up. No injuries were reported.
Provincial police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk confirmed that a house robbery case has been opened. The suspects remain unidentified and no arrests have been made.
Booysen was not at home during the incident, and it is still unclear what items were taken. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the theft.
The development comes as Booysen remains on trial in the Western Cape High Court, facing a range of charges including the murder of Brian Wainstein, who was killed at his Constantia home in August 2017.
Several of Booysen’s co-accused, including alleged underworld figures Mark Lifman and Andre Naude, have been shot dead in recent months as proceedings continue.
The broader case involves 38 charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, money laundering, corruption and offences under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
