The case involving Bellarmine Mugabe and Tobias Mugabe Matondze has been postponed once more by the Alexandra High Court, as plea negotiations between the State and the defence remain unresolved.
The postponement was granted on Tuesday to allow for further investigations and for both parties to attempt to finalise discussions. However, the court indicated that this would be the final postponement to conclude the matter.
The two accused face seven charges, including contravening the Immigration Act, attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice and illegal possession of a firearm.
They have abandoned their bail applications after it emerged that they may be in South Africa unlawfully.
Defence lawyer Sinenhlanhla Mnguni told the court that efforts to reach an agreement had not yet been successful, despite engaging in negotiations in good faith.
The delay gives both the prosecution and defence a final opportunity to conclude plea discussions, as the case moves closer to trial.
