Amazon and Google Team Up on New Multicloud Service

San Francisco — Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud have announced a rare collaboration to launch a new multicloud service aimed at speeding up connectivity between their platforms, a move that could reshape how enterprises manage data across the world’s two largest cloud ecosystems.

The joint offering, called CrossLink Connect, will allow businesses to run workloads across AWS and Google Cloud with significantly reduced latency, according to executives from both companies.

The service is designed for companies operating complex, high-volume data systems including banks, streaming platforms, AI developers and logistics operators, who increasingly rely on more than one cloud provider for resilience, compliance and performance.

AWS Vice President of Cloud Services, Vasi Philomin, said the partnership addresses a longstanding challenge for enterprise customers. “Clients want best-in-class tools regardless of which cloud they sit on. Faster multicloud connectivity helps unlock new use cases in AI, analytics and real-time operations,” he said.

Google Cloud’s VP of Engineering, Amit Patel, said the collaboration reflects customer pressure for cloud providers to become more interoperable. “Multicloud is no longer optional. It’s the architecture of modern business,” he said.

The launch marks a notable shift in an industry long defined by fierce rivalry. AWS and Google Cloud typically compete head-to-head for global infrastructure dominance, though analysts say customer demand for seamless data movement has forced major cloud companies to rethink their traditional walled-off models.

CrossLink Connect will initially roll out in 12 regions, including North Virginia, Oregon, Frankfurt, Mumbai and Singapore. Both companies expect global expansion in 2026.

Industry experts say the partnership puts pressure on Microsoft Azure, which has also been expanding its multicloud integration services. The three-way race for enterprise dominance is intensifying as AI adoption accelerates demands on data pipelines and real-time processing.

For the world’s largest corporations, many of which run hybrid or multicloud stacks, the AWS–Google partnership could reduce infrastructure costs and simplify system architecture, especially for applications needing rapid cross-cloud communication.
