The case involving Bellarmine Mugabe, son of former president Robert Mugabe, and co-accused Tobias Matonhodze has been postponed to next week following their appearance at the Alexandra Regional Court on Friday.
The postponement allows the defence additional time to locate the firearm allegedly used in the attempted murder of Sipho Mahlangu, which has not yet been recovered.
Mahlangu was shot in February at Mugabe’s Hyde Park residence, an incident central to the charges before the court.
Both accused have entered guilty pleas on multiple charges. Mugabe admitted to pointing a firearm and contravening immigration laws, while Matonhodze pleaded guilty to attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, illegal immigration, and possession of ammunition.
The matter is expected to continue once the outstanding evidence has been addressed.
