The Princess of Wales announced tonight that she is receiving “preventative” chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 42.

In a touching video filmed at Windsor on Wednesday, Catherine said that she and William have been doing their best to process the news privately for the sake of their young family, and that the news had come as a “huge shock”.

This took place a few days after she was spotted smiling beside Prince William as they walked out of their favourite farm store near their Windsor residence.

It was only after undergoing a significant abdominal surgery at The London Clinic in January that Catherine’s cancer was discovered. Kensington Palace has asked people not to speculate on the princess’s cancer and stated that it will not be disclosing information about the type or stage of the cancer.

It is believed that the news have been reported to the King, who is currently receiving cancer treatment himself, and the Queen.

When the Princess of Wales’ fight against cancer was made public this evening, well wishes began to pour in from all around the world. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that Catherine has “the love and support of the whole country”.

This announcement will definitely shock people all over the world, and comes weeks after rumours and crazy conspiracy theories over her health.

Additionally, it puts the British Royal Family in another dilemma at a time where King Charles is also battling cancer.

Catherine has requested that people respect her privacy, and has stated that she is committed to returning to her regular activities which she views as a crucial part of her recovery.

Kensington Palace has acknowledged that they are aware of the curiosity the princess’s announcement will spark around the globe. However, they have made it clear that they will only issue an update when something worth mentioning has been disclosed in order to give the princess the privacy she needs to continue her treatment.
