The South Gauteng High Court has ruled that controversial blogger Musa Khawula must retract defamatory statements made about Julius Malema and his wife Mantoa Matlala-Malema.
The judgment follows an urgent court application brought by Malema and his wife after Khawula alleged on social media that their marriage was ending after more than a decade.
Court Finds Claims Unlawful
The court found that Khawula’s posts, published in February 2026, were both unlawful and defamatory.
In the posts, he claimed that Mantoa Matlala-Malema had grown tired of alleged infidelity and was planning to leave the marriage, allegations the couple strongly disputed.
Posts Continued Despite Legal Action
Even after legal proceedings were initiated, Khawula continued to post about the matter, stating he would not apologise and insisting that the claims about a divorce were true.
This formed part of the basis for the court’s ruling against him.
Retraction Ordered
The ruling compels Khawula to retract the statements made about the couple, marking a legal victory for Malema and his wife in protecting their reputation.
