Controversial North West businessman Suliman Carrim will no longer appear before the Madlanga Commission this week after being hospitalised following a medical emergency.
Carrim was expected to testify on Thursday, but was admitted to hospital after an incident at a gym in Sandton earlier this week. He remains under medical care.
Commission Adjusts Proceedings
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels confirmed that Carrim’s legal team has informed the inquiry that he is unable to attend.
The commission is now adjusting its schedule accordingly while awaiting formal medical documentation to support the postponement.
Michaels indicated that, although official confirmation is still pending, it is clear Carrim will not be in a condition to testify.
Health Takes Priority
The commission has stressed that Carrim’s wellbeing is the priority and that it would not proceed in a way that could place him under unnecessary strain.
Once a medical certificate is submitted, the commission will formally consider the postponement and determine the next steps regarding his testimony.
