US President Donald Trump has indicated he will determine his own stance on a long-term solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Trump made a brief visit to the Middle East on Monday, joining regional leaders in signing a declaration aimed at solidifying a ceasefire in Gaza after two years of conflict. Speaking aboard Air Force One, he acknowledged differing opinions on the decades-long conflict, noting that some support a one-state solution while others prefer a two-state framework.
Trump added that any decision he makes will be coordinated with other countries, emphasizing a measured approach to the issue.
Currently, around three-quarters of the 193 United Nations member states recognise the Palestinian state declared in 1988 by the exiled Palestinian leadership. Last month, the United States, along with Israel, criticised moves by countries including Britain and Canada to formally recognise Palestine as a state.
