The Kings Of The Weekend, SPHEctacula and DJ Naves, bid farewell to Metro FM after seven years

SPHEctacula, real name Siphesihle Ngwenya and DJ Naves, real name Lebogang Naves, joined the station in May 2010. They expressed their unreserved gratitude to the listeners of their show.

“Thank you for allowing us into your cars, homes and hearts over the past 7 years. The Preparty was a huge success because of all of YOU that tuned in every Saturday, the duo said.

“We are eternally grateful for your unwavering support. Leaving The Preparty is a bold step for us to grow, get out of our comfort zones and challenge ourselves to achieve more. We hope you continue to follow us on our journey, wherever that may lead.”

This follows the shocking news in March that veteran DJ Glen Lewis was leaving the station to join Touch HD, which is owned by former Metro FM DJ Thabo ‘Tbo Touch’ Molefe.

A week after his announcement, singer and presenter Unathi Msengana who has been with Metro FM for the past 10 years, also announced that she was leaving the station.

Earlier this month, media darling and Top Billing presenter Bonang Matheba also resigned from the station. Matheba hosted The Front Row for three years.

New club owners of the sophisticated clubbing venue Icon Soweto, and promoting an upcoming EP called The Kings Way with hit singles, I Do I Do and Believe; The Kings Of The Weekend, SPHEctacula and DJ Naves, will definitely still be a part of the South African “pre-party” culture in one form or another.

Naves and Sphe will host their last show on Metro FM this Saturday, 29 April 2017 from 6 – 8pm
