Tzaneen – The South African Police Service in this Province is persistent in condemning the continuous poor child care by both the parents and guardians which is still generating more incidents of missing children and drowning.

In the Maake policing area outside Tzaneen, the police have launched a search operation for the missing Phangweni Julia Moagi, aged 12 years, following her disappearance on 2017-12-11 at about 09:00.  It is alleged that she had an argument with her mother over electricity bill.

After the argument, the victim told her mother that she is going out and since then she never came back home.

A joint search operation was conducted in and around her residential area without success.

She was wearing a long trouser, white vest and a grey sweater jacket. Police is requesting anyone with information about the whereabouts of this victim, contact Constable Emmanuel Manabe at 082 728 9922 or Crime Stop on 0860010111 or Crime Line sms 32211 or the nearest Police Station.

Meanwhile in Lephalale, the police in conjunction with the community of Marapong outside Lephalale have conducted a search operation following the disappearance of an 11-year- old girl on 2017-12-09 at about 14:00 after she left her parents’ house to play in the neighbourhood and she never returned back.

The search was up and running unsuccessfully until the victim came back home after four days which was uncovered that she was raped by an unknown suspect.

There is no arrest and police investigations are still on going. Whereas in Motetema outside Groblersdal, the police are still investigating an inquest case following an incident where a 4-year-old boy, Tatiwa Veterat fell inside a sewerage hole full of water and got drowned while he was playing with his friends.

There is no foul play suspected at this stage and the police investigations are still on going. Child safety is a direct societal responsibility of the parents, especially parents and guardians considering that this is a rainy season and schools are closed.

Movements and the whereabouts including the type of friends of your child must be an ongoing routine to prevent this type of incidents.
