The 38 year-old Port Elizabeth father who faces a charge of child abuse has been released on a warning and his case postponed to the 29th of May.
He appeared in Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s court in the Eastern Cape.
The man allegedly tossed his one year-old daughter on top of a shack roof during the demolition of the illegal structures at Joe Slovo near KwaDwesi.
A small group of residents, including the mother of the child, were in court to support him. The child and her mother are staying in a place of safety run by the Social Development Department.
