PRETORIA – The Tshwane Municipality is set to hold its first council meeting on Friday morning.
It became clear on Wednesday the Democratic Alliance would get the mayoral chain.
The EFF pledged its vote to the party in key metros across the country, but rejected forming coalitions.
The DA secured 93 seats in Tshwane, the ANC 89 and the EFF with 25 votes.
North Gauteng deputy judge president Aubrey Ledwaba will preside over the swearing-in of councillors and the election of the speaker.
The speaker will then oversee the election of Tshwane’s new mayor.
