CAPE TOWN – New Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane will meet with Parliament’s justice committee for the first time tomorrow.
Her office says she will be accompanied by deputy public protector Kevin Malunga and other staff.
She will present the Office of the Public Protector’s annual report for the past financial year.
It will be Mkhwebane’s debut meeting with the justice committee and the Members of Parliament (MPs) who serve on it.
These include the Democratic Alliance MPs who opposed her selection as Thuli Madonsela’s successor.
Mkhwebane was initially only scheduled to brief the committee next Tuesday, but that date has now been brought forward to tomorrow.
She’s expected to give a media briefing on Thursday when she will reveal the status of Madonsela’s report on allegations of state capture.
