Frustration is mounting among residents of Leiden near Delft, where ongoing electricity problems have left dozens of households without a reliable power supply for months.
Among those affected is resident Zaida Simba, who says repeated faults and a lack of assistance from authorities have left residents feeling neglected.
Simba is one of around 50 homeowners in the area who have been grappling with electricity supply issues since earlier this year. She said faulty trip switches in her home repeatedly cut the power whenever electricity is used, making daily life increasingly difficult.
In an effort to restore power, Simba hired a private electrician to carry out temporary repairs. However, she said the solution lasted only a day before the problems returned.
The resident expressed frustration over what she described as inadequate support from authorities, arguing that communities such as hers often receive attention only during election periods.
She said residents feel ignored despite repeatedly reporting faults and seeking assistance.
Simba also criticised the response she received after logging complaints, claiming that officials were unable to locate her reference number despite her following the required reporting procedures.
The prolonged outages have left many residents struggling with basic household activities and growing increasingly concerned about when a permanent solution will be implemented.
Eskom has confirmed that its teams have visited the area and conducted repair work in an attempt to address the ongoing electricity problems.
However, the power utility has not provided a timeline for when the faults will be fully resolved, leaving affected residents uncertain about when normal electricity supply will be restored.
The situation continues to fuel frustration among residents, who say they are desperate for a lasting solution to the recurring outages.
