Khayelitsha residents turn to court for adequate sanitation

CAPE TOWN – Residents of Khayelitsha have had enough.

They are now taking their fight for proper service delivery to court.

The community has for years been speaking to the City of Cape Town over temporary portable toilet solutions, without any luck.

It’s now joining forces with the Social Justice Coalition and taking the city to court over poor sanitation services.

Some residents have been forced to relieve themselves in portable chemical toilets for over a decade.

This, they say, is a health and safety hazard.
