PRETORIA – Tshwane’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service operator has been granted a court interdict in a bid to end the driver’s strike.
They downed tools on Wednesday over an employment equity programme.
Under the programme, 33 women were recruited last year to be trained as drivers.
They were meant to start work at the beginning of the month, but the SA Municipal Workers’ Union claims the company let them go.
It’s now demanding that the female drivers be immediately reinstated.
The bus drivers have vowed to continue striking until their demands are met.
The union confirms that it has seen the interdict, but claims it wasn’t delivered correctly.
