Pretoria – The Labour Court has dismissed an urgent application by the Department of Correctional Services’ KwaZulu-Natal Regional Commissioner, Mnikelwa Nxele, following his recent suspension.
The court was not convinced that there was any urgency, nor any basis, to nullify the suspension.
The matter was struck from the roll and will be heard on 15 March 2016.
“Mr. Nxele’s suspension follows allegations of acts of gross insubordination as well as failure to implement instructions of the national office.
“Disciplinary processes are underway. Further details relating to the suspension will not be publicly disclosed as this is a matter between employer and employee,” the National Commissioner of the Department of Correctional Services, Zach Modise, said.
Modise announced Nxele’s suspension with immediate effect on Friday.
