The Department of Home Affairs has announced extended office hours from 7 to 21 July to accommodate increased demand during the school holidays.
During this period, offices will remain open until 18:00, two hours later than the usual 16:00 closing time.
The department said the extension aims to assist learners who need to apply for or collect their ID documents while schools are closed.
To further improve service delivery, dedicated counters for ID and passport collections have been introduced in high-volume offices, where space permits.
Clients are encouraged to make use of the Branch Appointment Booking System (BABS), accessible via the department’s website, to schedule application or collection appointments. However, walk-ins are also welcome for those unable to book in advance.
Home Affairs Minister Dr Leon Schreiber urged individuals who have been waiting three weeks or more to collect their identification documents to take advantage of the extended hours for added convenience.
