Scheduled Outage to Affect 35 Areas in Johannesburg

City Power Johannesburg has announced a scheduled power outage that will affect several suburbs across the city on Wednesday, 25 June 2025. The planned interruption is part of routine maintenance aimed at improving electricity supply and service reliability.

The power outage will impact customers connected to the Nirvana, Nancefield and Alexandra substations. City Power said the planned work is necessary to upgrade infrastructure and ensure long-term network stability.

Areas Affected by the Power Outage

At Nirvana and Nancefield substations, the outage is expected to take place from 08:00 to 14:00, lasting approximately six hours. The following areas will be affected:

  • Bluefin Avenue
  • Skate Bluefin
  • Giraffe Street
  • Jewel Avenue
  • Peri Urban 1, 2 and 3
  • Steel Kiosk
  • Thembelihle 2
  • Lenasia South Extension 10
  • Trade Route Shopping Centre
  • Nirvana Drive Lenasia Clinic
  • Gazelle Street
  • Skate Avenue
  • Main Road
  • Boundary Road
  • Goudkoppies Landfill ABI
  • Olifantsvlei 1 and 2
  • Nancefield South and North
  • Bushkoppies 1 and 2
  • Slovo Park 1 and 2
  • Klipspruit Extension 2
  • Eldorado Park Extensions 1 and 3
  • Eldorado Park Central
  • Eldorado Park West

At the Alexandra substation, the outage will take place from 08:00 to 16:00, lasting eight hours. The following areas will be affected:

  • Alexandra (1st Avenue to 20th Avenue, between London Road and Hofmeyer)
  • Alexandra Mall
  • Far East Bank Extensions 1, 2, 6 and 7
  • Lombardy East
  • River Park
  • Sitswetla
  • Tsutsumani
  • West Bank

City Power has urged affected residents to treat all electrical installations as live during the outage and to take necessary precautions. Power is expected to be restored as soon as the work is completed.
