Over 190 households have been evacuated from fire-prone areas in Cape Town as firefighters continue to battle several active fire lines in the South Peninsula.
Fire crews, bolstered by additional teams from the Garden Route, are working to control the blaze, which is being intensified by strong winds.
The extent of the fire is clearly visible from the night sky, with a fiery streak stretching across the Table Mountain National Park.
Local officials have stated that the emergency response remains in full effect as teams focus on containing the flames.
Firefighters, including over 100 personnel tackling five different fire fronts, have been working tirelessly throughout the day.
Areas like Steenberg Estate and Zwaanswyk have already been evacuated, with Noordhoek Manor also under threat. Despite ongoing efforts, much of the fire is still burning in the inaccessible mountain terrain, complicating firefighting efforts.
In addition, emergency teams have faced difficulties clearing paths for responders. Tensions have risen as certain individuals obstruct evacuation routes, causing further delays in the rescue process.
Evacuated residents are being sheltered at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre, where health services are available to assist those affected.
