JOHANNESBURG – Striking Pikitup workers are due to face a disciplinary tribunal on Monday.
They’ve been on an illegal strike for more than two weeks now, refusing to return to their posts despite numerous pleas from the company.
The waste management company’s employees are protesting over salaries. They’re demanding an increase of between R8,000-R10,000 per month for lowest paid workers.
They’re also calling for the company MD’s head.
Meanwhile, refuse continues to pile up in parts of the city. Joburg Mayor Parks Tau will address the media on the matter this morning.
