JOHANNESBURG – Former SA fast bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe has reportedly confirmed that he is being investigated for match-fixing.
The publication says Tsotsobe is unconcerned by the investiation which is looking into allegations of match-fixing in a 20/20 cricket tournament.
Wisden quotes him as having said: “There’s a lot of speculation going around. I’m not going to entertain anything but Cricket South Africa can do anything they need to do to check if we did any match-fixing with the people that they are investigating. So we’ll wait for them and see.”
Cricket South Africa, which is conducting the investigation, has denied commenting saying the investigation is still ongoing.
Former Lions batsman Gulam Bodi was banned from all cricket activities for 20 years after he admitted to charges of contriving or attempting to fix matches in the RAM SLAM T20 tournament last year.
Tsotsobe made his international debut for South Africa in a Twenty20 International against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 11 January 2009.
In 2013 he was the seventh ranked bowler in the world according to the ICC ODI charts.
