Pretoria – Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane has welcomed the resumption of duties by employees at Northam Platinum’s Zondereinde mine.
“We are encouraged that production has resumed as of last night [Tuesday], and hope that management and employees will continue to keep the doors of communication open,” Minister Zwane said.
Work was halted at the mine earlier this month after two of its employees were killed.
Minister Zwane has thanked the police for arresting the suspects in the case.
“We must now focus on the critical issues affecting the sector, including meaningful transformation,” the Minister said.
