JOHANNESBURG – Sowetans with a taste for adventure spent their Easter weekend in a different way by camping in the townships local park.
Hundreds of happy campers attended the Soweto Camp Festival in Mofolo Park.
The three day event boasted over 60 live bands, DJs, performers and a unique township experience.
“The Easter Weekend was strategically chosen, we’re saying take a break, leave your house to drive to Soweto, explore Soweto, quad bike in Soweto, bungee jump in Soweto and have fun not far from your house,” said organiser, Lawrence Sethlolo.
While various artists took to the stage, the happy campers were also treated to local township games as well as visual arts and poetry performances.
The three day festival ended on Sunday.
