The search for 71-year-old British tourist Elaine McSorley, who disappeared in Mkhuze on 27 September, is ongoing, with police and local authorities vowing not to give up hope.
McSorley was last seen on Saturday morning when she and her 81-year-old partner set out for a walk to a nearby dam. Her partner reportedly turned back due to the heat, while she continued alone and did not return. A map she had been carrying was later discovered abandoned near the hotel where the couple was staying.
KwaZulu-Natal police confirmed that the search began in earnest on 28 September, with ground teams supported by aerial surveillance. Local residents and members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) have joined the effort, continuing searches despite heavy rain in the area.
Community representatives said they were mobilised immediately after McSorley was reported missing and remain determined to find her. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the search.
Members of the public with information are asked to contact the Mkhuze police station on 035 573 1088 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
