Johannesburg – Six people were left injured this morning when a taxi rear-ended a bus at the Royal Park and Columbine Road intersection in Mondeor, south of Johannesburg.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the taxi and bus in the left-hand lane of the road. The taxi was found crushed against the rear of the bus.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics found two men trapped inside the taxi while four other walking around on the scene.
Rescue service had to use specialised rescue tools to extricate both men from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics found that both men had sustained serious injuries while four others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured patients with advanced life support interventions. Once all the patients had been treated, they were transported to Baragwanath Hospital, as well as another private hospital, for further treatment.
Fortunately, no-one from the bus sustained any injuries.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
