President Cyril Ramaphosa will on Thursday unveil the government’s economic reconstruction and recovery plan during a joint sitting of Parliament.
In a letter he wrote to National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise last week requesting the joint sitting, the President said the country needs to take extraordinary measures towards a speedy and sustainable economic recovery.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the economy due to lockdown where some of the economic activities came to a standstill except essential services.
The joint sitting which will be held via hybrid will be at 2 pm in the afternoon.
The economic recovery plan seeks to address the huge economic fallout and job losses that have resulted from the COVID-19 lockdown.
The joint sitting means the President’s reply to oral questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will be rescheduled.
