Residents in Pretoria East are set to experience a scheduled electricity interruption this week as Eskom undertakes maintenance on its distribution network.
The power utility confirmed that the outage will take place on Tuesday, 28 April, from 09:00 to 18:00 as part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure reliability and reduce the risk of unplanned breakdowns.
Several residential estates and surrounding areas will be affected during the nine-hour interruption. These include Mooikloof Park, Mooikloof Heights, Mooikloof Glen, Akasia, Geelhout, Jakaranda and The Hills.
Eskom said the temporary shutdown is necessary to carry out essential upgrades and repairs to power lines, which are expected to strengthen the grid and enhance long-term service delivery.
However, the utility cautioned that unforeseen circumstances could result in changes to the planned schedule.
Residents have been advised to prepare in advance for the outage and to treat all electrical appliances as live during the interruption to avoid potential hazards when electricity is restored.
Eskom has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their cooperation during the maintenance period.
