JOHANNESBURG – The petrol price will increase by six cents a litre, while the price of diesel will decrease between 62 cents and 63 cents a litre from next week Wednesday.

The price of paraffin will decrease by 79 cents a litre next week.

Illuminating paraffin will decrease by between 59 and 79 cents per litre.

The Department of Energy’s Robert Maake says the main reason for this fuel price adjustment is the weakening of the rand against the dollar which has actually contributed close to 50 cents per litre on the prices.

“We have other contributing factors such as the oversupply of diesel in the international market; that’s why the diesel price is dropping by this amount.”

In the first week of this month, the price of 95 octane petrol went down by three cents per litre.
